Tom Steyer

California Governor

Abundance Network endorses Tom Steyer for Governor of California.

Tom understands that housing is the central issue driving California's affordability crisis, and he has a concrete, comprehensive plan to address it.
Tom has proposed building 1 million homes over four years and has backed that goal with real policy substance. He supports permitting and zoning reform and is committed to holding cities and counties accountable for building enough housing. He also supports modular and prefabricated home construction to reduce costs by up to 20%. He has called on the state to reform building codes to facilitate modular construction in cities and counties across California.
He is the only candidate advocating for Prop 13 reform to fund more homes. Tom’s proposal would bring in $20 billion per year to help fund infrastructure and reduce the burden on new development.
On transit and urban form, Tom supports the Regional Transit Measure to fund public transit in the Bay Area, a top priority for our San Francisco Chapter. He supports expanding laws that prioritize housing near transit. He also supports making it easier and cheaper to convert old office buildings into mixed-use and mixed-income housing to revitalize downtowns and bring people closer to job centers.
We are excited to support his vision for California.
